Choose solid earthy and warm colours like rust and magenta. The idea is to make your look warm to negate the icy winter blues. Stay away from cool blues and stark whites. Solids or simple patterns with a few colors are better than complex busy patterns with many colors.

Fabrics should have refined finishes rather than textured surfaces. Two examples of good fabrics would be wool gabardine or polished cotton, among the possibilities.
To soften the harsh winters, one can opt for soft pastels like pink and powder blue too. As far as designs are concerned, the floral print is back. Team a white cashmere cardigan with tiny floral prints with a soft white tank top.
